Good vs. Great
To determine if a movie is good vs great you have to first look at the actors. In my experiences with movies if I don’t know the actors or if I know the actors that are in the film aren’t that great then I won’t waste my time to watch it unless I hear otherwise from my friends or family. The acting has to feel like real life to me they can’t be over dramatic or over react in the film. From recent experiences with films to me what makes a great film is that the actors express some human nature or human reactions what we wouldn’t usually see in a film. In comedies I feel that what makes a good comedy is that they actors in the film have to almost act like they aren’t supposed to be funny.
The plot also plays a pivotal part in the film. Good plots usually make sense to the audience and they grab a hold of the viewer to see what will happen next to the characters that are in the film.  While for a plot to be great they immediately grab the audience’s attention to the point where they don’t want to turn their head or get up for anything because they are afraid they will miss something.
You look to see if the movie moves you are have an emotional effect and for good movies they usually just have one emotional effect for the viewers but while great movies have complex ones. For good movies it makes it easier I think to understand because you just have one easy emotional effect while for great movies it’s harder for the audience to understand because of how much more complex it is. An example of a complex emotional effect is the movie Django Unchained, there are some scenes that are funny in the movie but it kind of makes you feel guilty for laughing because of how serious the movie is. A film has to make to feel something if it’s a horror or comedy
There are certain genres of movies like dramas, horror films, action, crime, and mysteries to name a few. For directors that choose action films they should be able to be easily followed and are exciting to watch as well. For an action movie to be Great they usually have exhilarating scenes these type of scenes usually have an effect on the audience like they have a physical reaction where they gasp at what they are seeing.
You also need to have a theme as well if you want to make a great film, that in important. For a good movie there doesn’t have to be a theme in the film. The theme is there in great movies because it should make the audience think at the end of the film. Film is supposed to make you ask yourself or people very important questions about life or just about the film that we wouldn’t have thought of before if we never watched that particular film.
To end it all but is probably the most important part in making a good or great film is that the director has to feel excited about making this film and that it’s not just another film that they hope to make money on. It has to be something that the director seriously wants his viewers to see and that it was his idea, and that no one else would have come up with the idea if they didn’t make it.  if a director is solely in the film making business to make the big bucks or made to appeal the market that it’s in then they have no place in making films. The film has to have and make the audience feel the passion that the director has made for its viewers to tell the story.
