Point
Blank is a film that was created in 1967 and was directed by John Boorman. The movie
has actors Lee Marvin and Angie Dickinson. The film is a crime. Walker (Lee
Marvin), works with his friend Mal to steal a large amount of cash. When they
steal the money Mal double crossed Walker by shooting him and then taking all
the money. After he shoots Walker and leaves him to die Mal then steals Walker
wife as well. As Walker didn’t actually die he recovers and takes revenge on
Mal to get back his 93,000 dollars.
Walker goes to Las Angeles and goes to Lynne’s house and
barges in and fires at her bed with his gun hoping Mal was there, Walker asks
if Mal has been here and Lynn says he hasn’t and wants to die so shoe overdoses
on her pills. Chris Walkers sister in law hates Mal so she gets in on the fun
to take revenge on Mal with Walker. She meets with Mal in his penthouse which
is heavily guarded by his men to distract him from Walker. Walker busts in on
Mal and points a gun to his head and forces him to give him names and answers. While
doing this Mal falls off the balcony to his death and Walker runs off. After
this Walker then kills off everyone who is a part of the scandal and once he
gets to his money he never takes it.
This movie was very hard to follow for me it jumped back
and forth and wasn’t very straight forward. But I guess that’s what the
director was trying to do. In my opinion I want to think it’s a dream of
Walkers that he has after he was shot in the beginning by Mal. What also has me
really confused at the end of the film is why he didn’t go get his money that
he went through so much trouble to get. Is it because he really wasn’t trying
to get his money and he didn’t care about it after all? I want to go with this because
when I was watching the film it came to my senses that he said he wanted the
money but really he just wanted revenge on Mal and everyone that was a part of
the scandal. He was happier that they all died than getting his money. Even
though in my opinion I didn’t think this was a good movie a lot of other people
do because they say it was a way that Hollywood got back into thrillers. But what
I really like about the movie is that Walker wants justice. He wants justice
for what was done to him and have the same for the people who did it to him.
Even
though this isn’t a movie that I like it is a movie that should be watched if
you are into thrillers and crime movies because it give you a sense of how much
they have evolved and actually how much they have similarities as well. Now days
there is a lot more blood and guts but they still have the same theme and that
is usually to give justice to the bad guy which in the movie Point Blank is what they do. So in
conclusion I would recommend movie watcher that are fans of thrillers and
crimes to watch this movie to get a better understanding and appreciation of
thrillers and crime movies that are made today and in the past.
